Every font on Fonties comes from Google Fonts, where fonts are published under open licenses: mostly the SIL Open Font License (OFL) 1.1, with some under the Apache License 2.0.
What the OFL lets you do
- Use the font for personal and commercial work: logos, websites, apps, print, merchandise, video.
- Embed it in websites, PDFs, apps and documents.
- Modify it (as long as you rename your modified version if the original has a Reserved Font Name).
What you can’t do
- Sell the font files on their own.
- Distribute a modified version under the original name when a Reserved Font Name applies.
“Free for personal use” is different
Many fonts on other download sites are free only for personal use; using them in a logo, product or client project needs a paid license. When in doubt, check the license file that comes with the font.
Logos and trademarks
You can use an OFL font in a logo. The font license doesn’t stop you trademarking your logo, though it doesn’t give you exclusive rights to the font itself.
This is general information, not legal advice. Each font’s license is linked from its Google Fonts page.
